AAWE 2012 CHARACTER COUNTS AWARD RECIPIENTS

  1. Miss Blessing Omiunu is a JSS 2 student of Avbiosi Junior Secondary School in Owan West Local Government area of Edo State. She was born on September 9, 1998 into the family of Mr. lbuku Omiunu and Mrs. Rosemary Omiunu both Avbiosi New site.
    According to her principal, she wrote: "Blessing has exhibited an exemplary character since she was admitted in Avbiosi Junior Secondary school in 2009/2010 academic session. She is hard working, intelligent, disciplined and accessible to both the students and teachers. She is therefore, strongly recommended for the Association against Women Character Counts Award".
  2. Miss Cecilia Joseph is a JSS 2 student of Oke Junior Secondary School, Oke-Ota in Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State. She was born on June 17, 1999 into the family of Mr. Yusuf Joseph and Mrs. Grace Joseph and they both reside at Oke-Old Site, Ora.
    According to her principal, Mr. J. O. Akhibi, he says "Cecilia has exhibited an exemplary character since she was admitted into the school. She is hard working, intelligent and very well behaved. I recommend her this award".
  3. Miss Josephine Ojo is an SSS2 student of St. Mary's Grammar School (SNR) Eme-Ora, Owan West Local Government Area, Edo State. She attended Uguanroba Primary school, Eme-Ora and St. Mary’s Grammar School (JNR) for Junior Secondary School education.
    She is the last child of six children. She enjoys playing football.
  4. Miss Joy Osen Samuel was born on December 14, 1999 into the family of Mr. Samuel Akele of Obola-Iuleha, Owan West Local Government Area of Edo state. She lives with one of her sisters who reside in the school compound from where she attends Holy Trinity Grammar School (SNR). She is in SSS1C.
    According to her Vice Principal: "Joy is a devoted Christian and she has interest in pet activities that portray Jesus Christ in good light and has a knack for evangelism, no wonder she is an executive member of the Scripture union of Holy Trinity Grammar School branch.
    She maintains a very good rapport with her peers, sociable, warm and charismatic.
    Her relationship with her teachers is very cordial. She carries out all club duties assigned to her diligently with keen interest, great sense of responsibility and concern even with or without supervision. She is also amenable to discipline and always ready to learn. She dresses modestly and does not utter vulgar words. Her conduct is very satisfactory. Joy’s hobbies include singing, reading and athletics".
  5. Miss Maureen Erukpe is a JSS3 student of Holy Trinity Grammar School (JNR), Sabongidda Ora, Owan West local Government Area, Edo State.
    According to her principal, Mr. Imoudu, he says "Miss Erukpe was admitted into JSS 1 in 2010. Soon after she resume, she wasted no time in exhibiting good moral conducts that made her outstanding. Her kind disposition towards other students is remarkable. She is emotionally stable and yet capable of making valued judgments in the midst of competing alternatives. She is very punctual and regular to at school".
  6. Miss Experience Okhiku is a JSS 2 student of Iuleha Grammar School (JNR), Ugbohen-Iuleha, Owan West Local Government Area, Edo State. She was born June 22, 1999. She lost her father in 2009.
    According to her principal, "Experience is academically above average, always present and punctual in all School activities and very eager to learn. She is responsible, honest, reliable and hard working. Her disposition towards her peers in school and at home is friendly
    Experience proves her good citizenship by obeying school rules, regulations and societal norms. She is always ready to tackle responsibilities and her leadership quality is robust. She has high regards for her peers and teachers. Her hobbies are singing and reading".
  7. Miss Glory Osikemudu is an SSS 1 student of Venerable Akinluyi memorial College, Sabogida Ora, Owan Local Government area. She was born on August 8, 1999. Glory is a native of Jattu in Etsako West Local LGA of Edo State.
    Her hobbies are reading and singing. She is a chorister at the Cathedral church in Sabogidda –Ora. According to Rev. Canon Lee Obagibo, he says "Glory is a quiet, well behaved and God fearing".
  8. Miss Gloria Oghosa Ekhibirobo is an SS 3 Student of Ebenezer Secondary School. She was born on 15th April, 1996. Gloria is from Iguosa village in Benin City, Edo State. She is the eight child of 10 children in her family.
    She loves reading and playing video game. Her father owns his business and her mother is a business woman.
  9. Miss Doreen Omojuanfo is a 13 years old JSS III student is the school this year's nominee for award. Doreen is a student of St. Mary's Grammar School (Jnr.), Eme-Ora. She is the School's Senior Prefect for Girls.
    She is from a polygamous home. Her father, Mr. Francis Omojuanfor is self-e employed while her mother, Mrs. Bridget Omojuanfo is deceased. Her step mother Mrs. Nkechi Omohuanfo.
    She is the first child of the family of three, made up of two girls and a boy. Her late mother had two children for the family; she is well-headed, obedient and a well behaved student.
  10. Miss Aina Odihiri is an SS 2 student of Avbiosi Senior Secondary School, Avbiosi-Iuleha, Owan West Local Government Area, Edo State, is adjudged the best female student in SS2. She was born on the 28th July, 1994 to the family of Asuerimen Odihiri a Cecilia Oiseoje, both of Avbiosi origin.
    Right from when she was in SS I in 2011, she has been found to exhibit exceptional good behaviour and good moral upbringing. Therefore, I do not hesitate to recommend her for scholarship or award.
  11. Miss Ruth Atamah is an SSS2 student of Irrua Girls Senior College, Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area. She is a very quiet, responsible and dynamic student. She enjoys singing.
  12. Miss Ibhade Ebhomen is a JSS 2 student of Irrua Girls Junior College, Irrua, Esan Central Local Government Area. She is a hard working student. Her hobby is reading.
  13. Miss Vera Egbedion is sixteen years old and a student of Our Lady of Lourdes Girls' Grammar school, Uromi. She is in SSS2. She is a very reliable and dependable student. She respects all school rules and always punctual to school. Her hobbies include singing and reading.
  14. Miss Benedicta Oko is fourteen years old and an SSS2 student of Ebhoiyi Secondary School, Uromi. She is a very quiet and honest student. She is very well liked by most of her peers because she respects them. Her hobbies include singing and reading.
  15. Miss Mary-Magdalene Jalloh is an SSS2 student of Sacred Heart secondary School, Ubiaja. A very responsible student who takes her studies very seriously. She enjoys reading and adventure discovering new things and ideas.
  16. Miss Dorcas Imhankhionkhor is a JSS 3 student of St. Andrews Catholic College, Emu. She was born on November 13, 1996. She is a very quiet and reliable student. She enjoys reading and singing. She hopes to become a lawyer in the future.
  17. Miss Favour Onojiafike is an SS1 of St. Andrews Catholic College, Emu. She was born on May 13, 1995. She is always in school and attends all of her classes. She is a very responsible student and a leader. She enjoys reading during her spare time.
  18. Miss Charity Okoebu is a JSS 3 student of Ohordua Mixed Secondary School, Ohordua. She was born on October 30, 1996. She is hardworking, quiet and responsible student. Her hobbies are singing, dancing and gardening.
  19. Miss Kate Alegbode is an SS1 student of Ohordua Mixed Secondary School, Ohordua. She is a quiet and obedient student. She is always punctual for classes. She enjoys reading and like animals. She hopes to be a medical doctor.
  20. Miss Glory Onuwabhagbe is an SSS2 student of student of Sacred Heart secondary School, Ubiaja. She was born on March 9, 1996. She attended Ubiaja Community Nursery School, Ubiaja. She is a very responsible girl. She is very hard working and reliable and has a great sense of humour. Her hobby is reading.
  21. Miss Wisdom Ariajegbe is an SSS2 student of Ewohimi Secondary School, Ewohimi. She is a very quiet and hardworking student. She enjoys reading and garden.
  22. Miss Mary Isineyi is an SS 2 Student of Itohan Girls' Grammar School. She is 16 years old and the Senior Prefect of the school.
    She is the last of four children and hopes to become a medical doctor in future. According to her principal, Mary is quiet, respectful and dedicated to her studies.
  23. Miss Juliana Nwachukwu is an SSI student of Osemwende Secondary School, Ohoghobi Ikpoba-Okha Local Government Area, Edo State, was born on 31st July, 1996 to Mr. & Mrs. Christopher Nwachukwu. She is the first daughter and the fourth child of eight children.
    According to her principal, "Juliana is studious, hardworking, quiet, dedicated dutiful and responsible. She is also well focused and organized. She is one of the school prefect and also the prefect of her class".
  24. Miss Gloria Oghosa Ekhibirobo is an SS 3 Student of Ebenezer Secondary School. She was born on 15th April, 1996. Gloria is from Iguosa village in Benin City, Edo State. She is the eight child of 10 children in her family.
    She loves reading and playing video games. Her father owns his business and her mother is a business woman.
  25. Miss Blessing Oyaze is the third child of four children in her family, was born on 16th October 2000. She attended George Idah Model Primary School, Benin City and is presently a JSS I student of Idah College (JNR) Benin City. She hopes to become a lawyer in the future.
    Her father, Mr. Arinafo Oyaze who is a diver is a native of Ozalla where he lives. He mother, Mrs. Isoken Oyaze who is a petty trader, hails from Ehor, but she stays in Benin City with her four children. According to her principal, "Blessing Oyaze is hardworking, well behaved and respectful. Her hobbies include reading, writing and singing".
  26. Miss Josephine Adoloyi was born on 24th March, 1996, is a native of Igbanke in Orhinwon Local Government Council of Edo State. She is the last child of six children and is presently an SS II student of Oba Ewuare Grammar School (Snr), Oko, Benin City.
    According to her principal, "Josephine Adoloyi is well behaved, intelligent and very respectful".
  27. Miss Sophia Ewansiha is an SS 2A student who emerged this year as the over-all well behaved student from Anglican Girls’ Grammar School (Snr), Benin City.
    She is fifteen years old and the first child of five children in a Christian family.
    She is well-behaved and she takes active part in class activities. She comes regularly to school and punctually too. No wander she emerged the best. She hopes to be a medical doctor in future.
    Sophia will be very grateful and will be spurred on to work even harder if given an award by you.
  28. Miss Blessing Thomas was born on June 11, 1984. She is from a family of four, the second child and the first daughter of Mr. Ilamonu Thomas and Mrs. Bunmi Esezebor Thomas. She is from Auchi, Etsako West Local Government area, Edo State.
    Blessing attended E. B. Clever Foundation Group of Schools, Uromi, Esan North East Local Government Area, Edo State and Okhoro Primary School 11, Benin-City. While she was in primary school, she was made a class captain due to some qualities some teachers saw in her and she also represented her school in any competition and debates.
    Presently, Blessing attends Eweka Senior Secondary School, Benin-City. She is in SSS2 and a science student preparing for her West African senior School Certificate Examination.
  29. Miss Glory Edobor is sixteen years old and she is an SSS2 Arts student at Ogbe Senior Secondary School, Ogbe, Benin-City. According to her Vice principal (Administration), Mrs. K. O. Osawre, she wrote that "Glory's good character can be attested to. She is honest, respectful and willing to acquire academic knowledge. Glory’s sense of responsibility was noticed in SSS1 and she was appointed the school Time Prefect. She discharged her duties with high demonstration of maturity and accuracy". I strongly recommend her for the AAWE Character Award.
  30. Miss Imuetinyan Obasuyi-Akemien was born on August 14, 1998. She attends Oredo Girls Junior Secondary School. She is JSS 11.
    She attended Graceland Nursery School and moved to Winners Group of Schools for her primary education.
    Imuetinyan is an intelligent girl with high sense of self-actualization, she always talk of making good use of herself in future and bringing joy to those around her.
  31. Miss Theresa Obamwonyi is an SSS3 student of St. Maria Goretti Girls Grammar school (SNR). She was born on April 16, 1997. According to her vice principal, she wrote: "Theresa is not deterred by her parental background, but determined to work very hard and achieve academic excellence. She is also very well behaved and has good character. The testimony of her class teachers in SSS1 and SSS 2 (Mrs. Asibor and Mr. Ogbewi) recommends Theresa as a disciplined and well behaved student".
    Theresa is an intelligent student. She is currently the head Girl of St. Maria Goretti. She hopes to be a medical doctor.
  32. Miss Osakpolor Igbinomwanhia is a 17 year old SS2 student of Asoro Grammar School (SENIOR) Ekewan Road, Benin-City. She is the first of two children born to parents who have been separated for the past 11 years as a result of which she does not know her father and lives with her maternal uncle, though her mother takes care of all her financial needs. Osakpolor loves reading and singing, she is a member of her church choir and hopes to someday become a medical doctor.
    Osakpolor was selected for this award because of her outstanding behaviour and character. In the words of her Guidance Counsellor, "She is disciplined, respects the school rules and regulations, she is punctual and regular at school and has never been found wanting in character". At a time when majority of the children from separated parents are known for a lot of dysfunctional behaviour, Osakpolor stands tall as a model of good character among the entire school population.
  33. Miss Joy Aniefiok Williams is a vocational two (Catering) student of Government Science and Technical College, Benin-City. She is intelligent and a well behaved student. She enjoys cooking, singing and reading.
  34. Miss Faithfulness Okoikhere is a JSS 1 student of Aduwawa Junior secondary School, Benin-City. She is thirteen years old. She is a respectful and responsible student. She enjoys reading novels and would like to be doctor in future.
  35. Miss Miracle Tochukwu is an SSS3B student of Federal Girl College, Benin-City, Edo State. According to her principal, Mrs. Falasinnu, she says: "She is very respectful and appears very neat at all times. She is quite composed and has been consistently well behaved since was admitted into this college. Her academic performance has been excellent. She has never exceeded the third position in her class".
  36. Miss Uwa Ogbaretin is a JSS 3 student of Osemwende (Junior) Secondary school, Ohoghobi, kilometer 12, Sapele Road, Benin-City. She was born on February 25, 1998. Uwa is quiet, respectful, well behaved and a hard working student.
