2014 Character Counts List

1. Sandra Ezomo: She is a student of Army Day Secondary School, Isiohor, Benin-City. She is 15 years old and in SS11B.

According to her principal, Mrs. A. O. Odewale, she says; Sandra is always regular and very punctual and this resulted in her being saddled with the responsibility of holding the keys to leading to the staff room and principal’s office. Her honesty and integrity have been tested often as things left and forgotten in the office have never been declared missing”.

She has exhibited a very good character even to the admiration of other students. She is highly responsible to teachers and school authority. Sandra is well behaved and as a Christian, she demonstrates a high level of moral discipline. She is always very neat, and has never been wanting which made it possible for the school authority to select her as one of the 2013/2014 school prefects. She was equally one of the recipients of the school award for exceptional students at the 2013 End of Year Party organized by the school.

Despite all the assignments given to her in the school, she is still academically sound. She is always at the fore front when academic performance is rated. She never misses classes and all the teachers have equal view of her excellent performance in their various subjects.

Sandra demonstrates leadership qualities through her constant conduct of morning assembly. She leads the students in inspiring choruses and worship songs before the teachers on duty take over. She is also a member of the school fellowship choir, ready to render farewell songs to outgoing teachers, student teachers and corps members.

Her zeal and participation in the class is exceptional. She is always eager to learn and will always ask useful questions that others could learn from when seminars or workshops are organized in the school.

2. Juliet Ogieroba Ehigator: She is in SS1 and a student of St. Maria Goretti Girls Grammar School (SNR), Benin-city, Edo State. She is the fourth child of a family of six and lost her father in 2007. She is intelligent.

3. Favour Osarugue Aimufua: Favour is an SS2 student of Itohan Girls’ Grammar School (Senior). She was born on November 15, 1997 into a family of Mr. & Mrs. Timothy Aimufua of Uhunmwode Local Government Area of Edo State. She is the fourth of five children.

She is a well behaved student, calm, quiet, respectful and intelligent too. As a result of these behaviours/qualities, she has always been made class prefect since her primary school days. She is currently the prefect of her class.

Favour is also a neat girl; she is punctual to school and attends morning assemblies. She loves reading, cooking, dancing and singing. She hopes to be a broadcaster in future.

4. Christabel Ojone Abu: Christabel is a Senior Secondary student of Anglican Girls’Grammar School, Benin-City, Edo State. Presently, she is in SS2A and the prefect of her class.She was born on April 13th, 1999 to the family of Mr. & Mrs. Abu.She is the second child amongst four children.

According to her principal Mrs. F. E. Okundia, she says: “Christabel is quiet. Regular and punctual to school and participates actively in class activities. She is reserved and focused. She demonstrates a high sense of responsibility and enjoys good and cordial relationship with her peers, her classmates and teachers. I hereby recommend Miss Christabel Ojone Abu for the AAWE award as she possesses all the criteria for the award”.

5. Osariemen Nosakhare: Osariemen is a student of Emotan College (SNR) in Benin-City, Edo State. She is in SS2B (a Science student). She was born on March 28, 1999 (14 years).

Osariemen is a girl with very high moral and academic excellence. She is a quiet, calm, responsible student. She is a Christian and her hobbies are singing and dancing.

6. Rayanat Oyakhire: Rayanat Oyakhire is a JSS3 student of Idia College. She is loved by her teachers and by her peers because of her moral uprightness and good academic performance.

She is a very hardworking student who is opt in carrying out given assignments. She is the class prefect of her class and also the labour prefect of the school. She has so far carried out these duties satisfactorily without any adverse effect on her academics.

Rayanat was born on August 1, 2000 to the family of Mallam Muhammedu Jimoh Musa Oyakhire of Agbede in Etsako West Local Government area of Edo state. She is the last child of four.

She enjoys cordial relationship with her teachers and her fellow students. She is a lively and likeable girl, who enjoys reading and engaging in sporting activities as her hobbies.

Her favourite subjects are Mathematics and English Language and she nurses the dream of becoming an accountant in future.

7. Ese Edenogie: Ese is a student of Army Day Senior Secondary School, Ekehuan Barracks, Benin-City. She is 15 years old and currently in SS2.

According to her principal, Mrs. J. O. Aimuwu, she says; “Ese is an active, humble, neat, cheerful, always willing to learn, highly responsible, ready to accept responsibility, very cordial and respectful”.

Her hobbies are reading novels, keeping responsible friends and coordinating activities, she hates dirt and lies.

Ese enjoys playing football and skipping. She is currently the school’s time keeper.

8. Elizabeth Omoregbe: Elizabeth is an SS2 student of Osemwende Senior Secondary School. She is 18 years old.

She is a quiet, respectful, responsible and hardworking student.

9. Babeeta Esheshi: Babeeta is an SS2 of Ebenezer Secondary School, Benin-City. She is from a family of six children. She was born on March 3, 1997 to Mr. & Mrs. Victor Esheshi. Babeeta is the first child of the family.

She is currently the head girl of her school. She is gentle and very well behaved. She won several prizes in academics and also an award for the best behaved girl in the school.

10. Esohe Isenmila: Esohe is an SS2 student of NIFOR Secondary School, NIFOR, near Benin-City. She is 15 years old.

Esohe is always regular and punctual at school. She is morally sound, disciplined, honest, trustworthy and law abiding.

She is also friendly with her fellow students. She shows maturity in dealing with affairs of the school. She is patriotic. Esohe shows this as she conducts the morning assembly.

She is very active in class. She helps to control and manage the class effectively when assigned to do so.

11. Esther Edebiri: Esther is an SS2C student of Oredo Girls’ Senior Secondary School. She was born on April 8, 1998 and she is sixteen years old.

She is very punctual, always regular in school and attentive in class. She is a very well behaved student, respectful to both fellow students and teachers.

Esther is sound academically as shown in her continuous assessment. Her classroom participation is excellent.

12. Esohe Osagie: Esohe is a JSS 3 student of Ogbe Junior Secondary School, Ogbe, Benin-City. She was born on March 1, 1998 to the family of Mr. & Mrs. Richard Osagie from Orhionmwon Local Government Area. She is the fifth child out of eight children.

In spite of her humble background, she is intelligent, well behaved and determined.

13. Precious Okunigho: Precious is a JSS 2 student of Umelu Junior Secondary School, Umelu, Ikpoba Okha LGA. She was born to Mr. & Mrs. Okunigho on March 28, 2000. She is the seventh child out of nine children. She is very hardworking and intelligent. She takes care of the class as if as she is a teacher. She ensures the class is quiet and respects her peers as well. She is also responsible, calm and honest.

14. Sarah Omosefe Ighodaro: Sarah is an SS2 and science student of Eweka Senior Secondary School, Benin-City. She was born on January 20, 1999 to Mr. & Mrs. Felix Ighodaro. She is the fifth child of six children. She lost her dad in 2006.

She is a quiet, responsible and hardworking student. She represented her school in various competitions.

15. Peace Enerioya Iyonmana: Peace is a student of Idia College and she is presently in SS2. She was born on October 31, 1998 to Mr. Mrs. Victor Iyonmana. She is the third born of the family.

Nerrie as she is fondly called by her friends is a fun loving person and she is loved by her teachers and classmates.

She is intelligent, responsible and loves cooking, reading books (novels, newspapers and motivational books) and singing.

Her role models are Allison Madueke, Chimanda Ngozi Adichie, Mrs., Ngozi Okonji Iweala and Mrs. Dora Akinyuli.

She intends to be an electrical engineer and her ambition is to have an NGO to help the less privileged. Narrie says her motto is “Hardwork is key to success.

16. Winner Okosun: Winner is a JSS3 student of New Era Junior Secondary School,Benin-City. She is the current Punctuality Prefect of the school. She was born on June 4, 2001. She is from Ekpoma in Esan West Local Government Area.

Academically, Winner is a very brilliant student, with As in almost all her subjects right from class one. She is morally good.

After the consultation with both staff and students, Winner has been unanimously acclaimed the best behaved student of the year 2013.

According to her vice-principals, teachers and fellow students, they described Winner as “a very respectful, humble and God fearing. She is very punctual and hardworking. She is very neat, caring and highly intelligent. She is very honest, reliable and dependable, kind and friendly”.

17. Victoria Akhuemonkhan: Victoria is an SS3 student of Iyekogba Senior Secondary school, Ebo, in Oredo Local Government Area. She was born on October 3, 1995. She is the second child of her parents. Her father is late.

According to her principal, Mrs. I. Kadiri, she says, “Victoria is polite, sensible, responsible, reliable, honest, trustworthy and diligent. She strongly recommends her for the AAWE Character Counts Award”.

Victoria’s ambition is to become a banker in future.

18. Promise Orabuche: Promise is an SS1 student of Government Science and Technical College, Benin-City.

She is intelligent, humble, responsible, well-behaved and neat. Above all, she has respect for constituted authority and has the fear of God at heart.

According to her principal, Mrs. H. I. Odigie, she says, “we will be glad if Promise is considered for the AAWE Award, because it will be go a long way to encourage, inspire and empower other students like her in the school. Thank you for the good work in the lives of our girls. It will only come from those with the heart of God”.

19. Ogheneochuko Onomineh: Ogheneochuko is an SS2 Science student of Ekosodin Senior Secondary School, Ekosodin, Ovia Local Government Area. She was born on November 14, 1996.

She is regular in school and has never been absent from school since she was admitted into senior secondary school in 2012/2013 session. She is of exemplary character which is always referred to when counselling other erring students. Her behavioural pattern is worthy of emulation. She is always calm, easy going but firm and very neat. She has been tipped as the head girl for the 2014/2015 session.

Ogheneochuko has good interpersonal skills which enable her to relate with her peers, other students and staff; this has endeared her to all as a responsible student. She is always very eager to learn, very attentive and focused in class during teaching/learning activities with the resultant effect of being the best science and arts student in the Senior Secondary 1 (SS1) during the 2012/2013 session.

She easily obeys and respects the school’s rules and regulations; in addition, she participates in other extra-curricular activities in the school. She is the current leader of the school’s Christian fellowship.

Ogheneochuko is an active student in class who easily grasps the understanding of lessons taught. She is very responsive to any assignment given to her; that is, she is always very ready for any assignment which she carries out dutifully and conscientiously. She cannot be found to say no to any assignment.

20. Elizabeth Omigie: Elizabeth is an SS1 student of Oba Eware Senior Secondary School, Benin-City. She was born on May 27, 1999.

She is a reliable, dedicated and honest student. She hopes to be an engineer.

21. Esosa Vincent: Esosa is an SSS2 student of Ezomo College, Ora. She was born in Egba in Uhunmwode LGA of Edo State. She is the first child of five children of her parents.

Esosa is exceptionally good. She is regular and punctual at school. She participates actively in all school activities.

She is a cheerful, honest, hardworking and well-behaved student.

She hopes to become an accountant in the nearest future. Her hobbies include reading and gardening.

22. Louisa Ufuah: Louisa is an SS1 student of St. Mulumba Girls’ Secondary School, Benin-City. She was born on April 7, 2000. She is the last child of the family.

She is a beautiful young girl within and out. She is calm, obedient and very easy going. She is an ardent student. She is blessed with a natural intelligence and has enough discipline to home that intelligence. She is motivated to learn and very patient when it comes to multitasking assignments. Her quiet disposition in class is quite amazing. She listens with rapt attention and amazes you with the wisdom with which she answers questions.

Except on one or two occasions, Louisa has always come first in her class. She is fondly called a good organizer. She does not only participate in the plethora of extra-curricular activities provided by the school, she enjoys them. She also plays active part in the Holy Mass and a chorister of great zeal.

Another laudable quality of Louisa is that she is a natural leader. She provides peer leer leadership for the class. She is caring and trustworthy and above all very unassuming. This trait has endeared her not only to her classmates but also her teachers.

23. Isioma Jennifer Chigozie: Isioma is an SS2 student of Federal Government Girls College, Benin-City. She was born on August 6, 1999. She is the second child out of four children.

She is a quiet and responsible student. She is punctual to school and well behaved. She is caring and friendly with her peers.

24. Constance Osewagbe: Constance is an SS2 student of Ohordua mixed secondary School, Ohordua, Esan South East Local Government Area. She was born on May 21, 1996. She is obedient, responsible, reliable, intelligent and neat.

25. Sophia Okoeron: Sophia is an SS2 student of St. Andrew’s Catholic College, Emu, Esan South East LGA. She was born on September 18, 1996, into the family of Mr.& Mrs. Monday and Maria Okoeron. She hails from Orakhuan, Emu.

She is the seventh child of her family. She lost her father at the age of eight and since then her mother has struggled to keep her and other siblings in school.

Sophia is a very well behaved student, caring and very studious. She is morally sound and always encouraged her classmates to remain chaste as this will help them to focus and achieve whatever they want to be in life, She is very much respected among her peers. She hopes to become a reverend sister after her studies, so that she will serve God in humanity.
